His passing got me thinking of another one of the greats at Kentucky Horse Park. DaHoss is with out a doubt my most favorite racehorse of all time. Here's something I stumbled across that HRTV put together recently about DaHoss and Michael Dickinson. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqt3Or2wWuI

Some years ago in New York they put out two old geldings to lead the post parade for the Jockey Club Gold Cup - KELSO and FOREGO. When they turned away to go to the start the 17-year-old FOREGO got pissed and did not want to leave the track. He wanted to go to the gate and race. I was along the rail and had seen both of them run. KELSO was in his 20s and lethargic and died in his stall that very evening.
Nobody fired like those two runners in New York under tons of weight and long distances.
Not in my lifetime anyway.

I'm sure some of the greats miss the spotlight. Four Star Dave suffered a similar fate.
