Within the past 24 hours New York has expelled a state senator for beating and slashing his girlfriend and a New York City councilman has been indicted for stealing millions.
Not a bad day and I didn't even mention the governor.
And Uncle Joe Bruno, the former state senate leader, is soon to be sentenced to prison for being a thief.

Here's the Albany Times Union's take on the Monserrate vote: http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/st ... yID=898939I smell a rat. "Closed door debate" amongst the Democrats? The fix was in. Monserrate burned his bridges with the crap that he and thug Espada pulled last summer, and this was payback time. This had nothing to do with domestic violence or misdemenors. If it did, Ada Smith would have been removed long before her constituents voted her out in a 2006 primary. Remember how the witch threw hot coffee at a staffer, threatened a staffer with a knife, nearly ran over a State Trooper at a checkpoint, bit an NYPD officer at a traffic stop, and used homophobic slurs against her staff? Compared with Ada, Hiram looks like a saint, which is painful for me to even say. Fellow thug Ruben Diaz is now hinting that he may defect to the Republican Conference, further complicating matters. Gov. Paterson is going to formally announce a "special election" to fill Monserrate's seat - an election that Monserrate can and would run in, as the current laws do not expel him from ever running for elected office ever again. Frankly, I don't see a special election ever happening, and I can't see how this expulsion stands at the Court of Appeals level. When the high court overturns this vote, Monserrate is going to sell some of his colleagues down the river. This ain't over, and it's gonna get ugly. 1/4 Pole wrote: Within the past 24 hours New York has expelled a state senator for beating and slashing his girlfriend and a New York City councilman has been indicted for stealing millions.

[ quote="arrow"]California just can't catch a break http://www.drf.com/news/article/111104.html[/quote] Serves SA right. The bagmen competed for fake track business in CA. NY has corrupt politicos and CA is as corrupt...only on the local level. Anyone with a modicum of a brain knew fake track was a scam from the get-go. Maybe Keeneland is the only fake track w/o major problems. Only race spring and fall for 3 weeks and MAINTENANCE is a non-issue because Kee will spend whatever to keep the track in shape.

I don't like synthetics and have never seen them as the solution to breakdowns. That being said Santa Anita seems to have the worst problems. Woodbine and Arlington seem to be rolling along just fine with synthetics. Maybe SA needs to take a break during the monsoon season. Any track can get rained out but with dirt tracks you seal them and hope for the best. What can you do with a soggy mess of rubber and wax

In fact, you have become extremely one sided, and redundant. Certainly NYRA has its faults, but comparing NYRA to condomAnita in the winter time is like comparing apples to cucumbers. How about a fair comparison Saratoga, to Del Mar. Dollar for dollar the Spa wins hands down.
