NYRA would love the Derby winner AMERICAN PHAROAH to go snag the race at Pimlico.

I didn't like the winner coming out of Canarsie with money as the fave but I'll be cheering for the horse to grab leg 2 of the Triple Crown. I may not bet the bum but it'd be nice to see Belmont Park go nuts again with a Triple Crown on the line.

WHIRLAY did 2:01:4 in 1941 and that record lasted 25 years. SECRETARIAT did 1:59:2. My bet SHAM went second in 1973 but still holds the second-best time ever run in the Derby at a mile and a quarter but nobody ever keeps track of losers. The day after the '73 Derby I married the busty teen bride and became a winner again.

Today's Derby victor went in 2:03+.

The winner was overland off the turn and was full of run late. The time was irrelevant since the winner had had some races but if you studied the trip from Canarsie you had to be impressed with that #18 beast. I was.

I had 6 exacta and Tri tickets with 8 and 18, did not have the 2nd horse on any of them. Stupid on me.
Another winner of Derby Day, Travis Stone, give a listen to some of his thrilling calls. He is the BEST!

I had the right idea, but the one length defeat left me out in the cold on about $2500 profits.
Oh well, turn the page. :(

Went out to Lone Star, long lines awaiting payoffs. They were short on Bengies, took my break even in $20's.

Good things are worth waiting for. Lone Star is a nice place to play the races.
