A horse broke down along the backstretch. Larry called that DOMESTIC WARRIOR had lost its rider when the horse had clearly snapped a leg. The call was disingenuous and dishonest and I posted about the breakdown in the handicapping thread.

But then I thought back.....

As an old NYRA mutuel clerk and (for a year or so) a computer operator with AutoTote at the NYRA tracks I do remember the laws laid down by NYRA management - Law #1 was that nothing could ever be said about anything bad at the track or about racing or NYRA. I was a clerk at NYRA when the bossman of mutuels and a top VP left the track one day in cuffs.

My last day as a mutuel clerk with a NY racing license was in 2003 but by then outside contractors were coming in for minimum wage on "big days".

Be that as it may, it's government racing now and not even the NYRA announcer is allowed to say honestly about what he sees.

I knew that was coming BL from the moment the horse went into distress but Collmus calling that the horse "lost the rider" is a sad sack of dishonest horse shit.

Larry, no doubt, has his orders not to call a breakdown. It's NYRA's way and has been that way for a long time. Warm-Weather Larry the "NYRA, BC and TC" announcer (as Jason yelled out earlier today) is off the hook as a company man.

Jeez, I'd like to see better calling the races but the reins are tight in New York.

OK, Larry, I get it. You want to be nasty. Have at it. I'm done trying to be nice.

Keep laughing....right?

Oh Andy, nobody here loves you or slaps you more than me here. And nobody gives you a bigger cheer on this Board when you catch a good one out of Talking Horses.

Try to catch a thicker skin. I was stooping at Jamaica for Pop as a lad before you even caught an opportunity to make the back end of your first nappies lose their beauty.
