Some of theses races have runners in them that step up a notch on off-going so as I work the card on Friday night with more rain coming I'm having trouble with forming any strong opinions.

6 Domer comes of almost a 2 month freshening for Contessa . Stays in same class and picks up a hot bug who is under Cordero's care.

3 Little Rocco Slight rise in class but looms large if speed stops.

5 Party On Will sit a nice stalking trip.

We got less rain than forecast. Stiff breezes already have the track FAST before 9 a.m. and the sun is shining.

I have some early thoughts.

Contessa's DOMER had a nice series of ascending figs going when freshened. Gary had this one doing easy maintenance breezes and it would appear that this one will come back running.

I don't know how the turf figs will translate to dirt but COLLINITO - SCRATCH - has the pedigree to go well on it.

PARTY ON has been going well with Carmouche. Figures to rate and roll late as best he can. Not out of this.

EIGHT CENTS loves to get beat and isn't worth three cents as a short number at the win window.

The woman singing the National Anthem on the live feed is not an Army Sergeant First Class. With three chevrons up and three down she's a "top kick" Master Sergeant and her subordinates would call her Top or Topper. With a diamond between the stripes she'd be a line outfit First Sergeant, aka the "First Shirt".

It's a long day. I'll cover the insane chalk for a flier in the DD but race 2 is going to have some legs.

DD: 5-6/1-6

Chump Chalk DD: 2/4-6

Looking for leg 3 value.

P3: 2-6/1/1-3-5-6

The 1/8 Pole is at the Big A via public transportation.

I slapped DOMER as a huge 5/2 overlay at the win window as they were loading and so did a lot of other people.

Over at the break and home at 2/1 just 20 cents short of 5/2 while the chump chalk does no better than second again at evens.

I'm happy for old friend Gary Contessa and even happier for me.

Was that Cancel's first victory?

He rode like a seasoned pro.
