I like that Ellis shipper TARPON BAY ROAD is the only 4-year-old in the race and has ascending figs to match his races as he goes farther. I'll be taking a shot with this one.

It's second over for POWERFUL ALLY. Had the rail last out and came home 5-wide in a field of seven to catch the show. Mr. Ortiz stays aboard but he'll need to catch a better trip.

D'AMBROSIO showed speed and held OK at a mile last out. McLaughlan steps him out second over with Castellano up. Do not ignore. This one may break on top and take some catching.

I see the ascending figs through all five starts for SPIETH. And I also see the truckloads of incinerated "win" money. The trick in this game is to beat the chalk if and when you can.

The Four/Seven can carry on my P3 but only the #6 TARPON BAY ROAD can land my two DD tix.

11/1 Lump under the chalk saves some of my burned bacon.

24.03 and 48.68 splits from the rail speed went just fine for the winner.

I'm OK with the 2-pony slapzacta box for $35.40 to get some wounds patched.

I learned long ago that Loose Lucy was easy but that horse race wagering is not.
