I had a few thoughts last night beyond wishing my fellow countrymen down south well with Irma coming their way.

DADDYISDOOLEY - SCRATCH - catches a significant rider change that should cure the seconditis.

I ain't never thrilled with zip-for-12 five-year-old maiden mares but when last seen CONQUEST LUCKNLOVE - SCRATCH - ran a good one and Irad stays. Both runners mentioned so far worked upstate but never caught a race. Not sure what to make of that.

FOREIGN AFFAIR drops, cuts back and catches Javier. Looks like maybe the value play.

I like the pretty Gabby Gaudet but she's a horse gal from Maryland. She takes the edge off Andy's arrogance which is a neat trick but I'd prefer an all-New York presence on Talking Horses. And yet I understand that the live feed goes coast to coast as well as does the later pony show. With that HD thing I keep it on mute and only catch Maggie and the race with the sound up.

Lots of scratches in this race and that's just bad for a diddler. Fun card nonetheless.

P3: 5/3-6/1-5

VALUE IT IS?

I'm happy that FOREIGN AFFAIR got home to beat the even-money fave but scratches made this winner a slim 2/1.

Gabby's call went well for the place while Andy's chalk blew the break and never showed up. Gabby's not a bad 'capper.
