No racing at Belmont today.

on a big carryover day,thats the 2nd time this year that belmont has cancelled on a big carryover day.i cant remember belmont having cancelled racing in the past 20 years,something doesnt seem right

The winds were high and Long Island caught more than three inches of rain. It was still raining Monday morning and the winds are gusting to more than 40 MPH. I had to make a detour this morning to avoid a downed tree on my block.

And I have no idea what they'll do with the carryover. The law says it's got to be distributed on the meet's last day to the most winners on a ticket.

The carryover will go to Friday's card at the Big A.

And its got a mandatory payout as if opening day at Aqueduct was getaway day at Belmont.

By rule the carryover would have to be offered on opening day at Belmont next April but the rule was changed on Monday by the New York State Gaming Commission.
