Sweeping The Card And Not Making A Dime Ma!!!!! The Four/Six will be racing for my second DD. If my shot memory serves me correctly the outside posts aren't a huge hindrance on this turf course with the more forgiving turns but that first turn is still coming in a hurry at a mile. |

Most of them are dead but back in the 60's and 70's a lot of top-notch trainers would tell you that the one-mile main turf course at Aqueduct was the best and most honest turf course in the nation. I'm glad to see it back after an absence of 42 years. P3: 1-4-6-7/6/8 DD: 4-6/6 DD: 2-7/5-6 Bookend Zacta Box: 1/7 |

I didn't expect the gate to be set up against the outer rail but the race was a good one. The two best ran One/Two from the outside posts and this turf course was just as I remembered - honest. I get the $19.20 DD and kick off another as well as the P3 but the tiny prices, if they keep, up will grind me down eventually. |

I was puzzled about the gate placement myself but I suppose they don't want tote tracks on the hedge of a brand new turf course. Did they run any 6F turf sprints back in yesteryear on the outer AQU turf? |

Turf sprints were as rare as me walking around with a bankroll back then. Horses raced out to about two miles on the turf and 12-furlong maiden races could be seen. I remember one particular turf race at a mile and five eighths when Hedley Woodhouse was on top in a 53 half on a bomb while standing up and the old man told me we were going to the cashiers for huge. And we did. |
