I like "inside on the inner turf" and I'll probably be diddling there but perhaps "much the best" drew outside post(s).

If BARBAROSSA - SCRATCH - can catch some position going into that first turn it's going to take a lot of horse to beat him. JV up for Pletcher and this one is going to be pounded at the windows.

That's A-OK class relief for LOOKING READY - SCRATCH - but the break from Canarsie will have him hard-used to get into the first flight or lead into the clubhouse turn or losing a lot of ground to get inside early. Might not want to rate.

GOTHAM'S STORM closed nicely last out and shortens. Son of CITY ZIP and Franco up for Weaver.

The late $$$ came in on the winner.

Andy had mentioned that the outside was the place to be on this dirt and I was in agreement. But not for this race on a strange day so far.

And no, these Slow Bred $80K optional claimers were unable to break the 1:40 Slow Bred barrier for the mile. They went just as fast as the open ten plow horses in Race 2.
