I like "inside on the inner turf" and I'll probably be diddling there but perhaps "much the best" drew outside post(s). If BARBAROSSA - SCRATCH - can catch some position going into that first turn it's going to take a lot of horse to beat him. JV up for Pletcher and this one is going to be pounded at the windows. That's A-OK class relief for LOOKING READY - SCRATCH - but the break from Canarsie will have him hard-used to get into the first flight or lead into the clubhouse turn or losing a lot of ground to get inside early. Might not want to rate. GOTHAM'S STORM closed nicely last out and shortens. Son of CITY ZIP and Franco up for Weaver. |

The late $$$ came in on the winner. Andy had mentioned that the outside was the place to be on this dirt and I was in agreement. But not for this race on a strange day so far. And no, these Slow Bred $80K optional claimers were unable to break the 1:40 Slow Bred barrier for the mile. They went just as fast as the open ten plow horses in Race 2. |
