I don't have many strong opinions for today's racing at Philly but it's going to be a pip while groping for a number.

Everybody is touting Laurel shipper FRENCH MOON but this guy got his doors blown off last out at odds-on with similar at today's distance. A horse that's "overdue" at zip to five could be a bad wager even though he's 3 for 5 going 5 & 1/2 furlongs.

WAKING UP comes off the layoff, drops a ton, and the works are improving nicely. And you get "twofers" with the entry.

CAROLUS MAGNUS took some cash off the layup and clunked. May go better second time with Hampshire up.

Third off the layup for Lump CAT NIP DENNY for some low-key connections. This guy has beaten much better in the past.

I'm not a French Moon fan, despite the drop into conditioned claimers. Too many disappointments at short odds to have confidence. Pass. Carolus Maximus doesn't inspire much confidence coming off that 20 Beyer. Problems?

I'm thinking that the late runners are the way to go in here. D' Wild Affair (#2) is off the bench, but could win by attrition. An improvement into the Beyer 60s would be enough. Cat Nip Denny (#7) could figure things out, especially if the front falls apart. Punto Fijo (#1) could pick off his stablemate turning for home.

No absolutes here.

Cheap crap racing for sure, Tim, but a tough card nonetheless.

1/8 Pole just rolled in from Roscoe and just rolled out again to load up the OTB account so we'll be firing from two accounts today.

I understand the difference between restricted claimers with time contraints and those that are non-restricted but I don't see them as a huge "class" difference in most cases. It tickles my kidneys that CAROLUS MAGNUS just got blasted with a huge amount of $$$ to to knock him to 6/5.

1/8 Pole just phoned so that I could lay in his OTB DD action on-line for track prices.

His DD went: 1-3/2-5

Mine went: 1-7/2-5

P3: 3/5/1-6

Sometimes, even a minscule profit is a good thing. I'll take it and move on.

It's too bad the lump got pounded. We'll get a number somewhere.

I saw a lot of potential for some numbers to land today today but I wear glasses.
