 This is an interesting one mile allowance on the Widener turf course.

Pretty Boy Freud has been an enormous source of frustration for myself and others, esp., since the switch to grass. He just doesn't want to win. Look at all those close seconds and thirds!...the quintessential sucker horse. He's returning from a December layoff and to make matters worse, he's trained by Leo O'Brien, who has never been the same since his halcyon days a decade ago, when he was outed by the late Jose Martin. The best jocks can't put this one over the top and today, Jose Lezcano takes another shot. But the gelding is another year older and maybe he has matured some?
Chad Brown has a decent looking sort just inside on the rail - Walker's Landing. Don't much like David Cohen on grass and the jock has been sluggish since his recent return from injury, but the 12-1 ML is certainly juicy.
As usual, George Weaver often shadows Chad in turf races and New Yawker likes this course and distance.
Devon Rock has never quite fulfilled his potential since his splashy debut on grass on Belmont Stakes day, but Jimmy Jerkens may have him ready.

The others.....there's a Pletcher, a Dutrow, Patti Farrow brings along Carlos Marquez; even the Dood is here, though he's kind of tailed off.

Tough field, but there's time before the gates open.

 Will follow my initial instincts and box the first four that I mentioned:

ex & tri box....1-2-3-8.....DD....1-2-3-8/3

Not crazy about Chad's runner buried on the rail; broke maiden early March on Tampa's turf course at same distance, but is out of Theatrical, so there's upside. Steep jump here, though.

As the betting opens, the crowd has established Devon Rock as the decisive favorite, though he hasn't won since breaking his maiden a year ago and has disappointed since. The eight post is as far as I'll go on the Widener for a win spot.

Didn't know what to do with Dr. Dutrow's Indio Rooster, who tries the greensward first time. Don't know how Indian Charlie prodigy do on grass, but unwilling to risk including, despite trainer's good grass numbers and hot-hand Cornholio aboard.

Pretty Boy Freud usually completes exactas and triples. Maybe today he wins.....

My pick 4 died with that Curatolo ride in last. I keyed DEVON ROCK who has been a disappointment but should rate nicely for Castellano and prove what he is.The best horse in the race

:D Bang!

Couldn't ask for better, could I?

Another IRS payout (which means another phone call to NYRA's mutuel dept. to secure a W2G  )

I rag on Cohen, but he rode perfectly. And Chad Brown made my day.
