We're scoping the card at Arlington as a second choice. Long Island is supposed to be under a deluge tonight and tomorrow.

 It was supposed to rain heavily today, too, but it didn't. That doesn't mean it won't rain tonight or tomorrow, but the weather people really get off on bumming people out and, if perchance they are incorrect (as they so often are), they never apologize for being wrong - they simply declare "we really dodged a bullet today." I have always maintained that radio and television meteorologists, esp., tv, have the best jobs hands down: you can be wrong most of the time, yet be rewarded with a raise in salary if the station feels you're attractive to the viewing audience.

Additionally, here in the NYC area anyway, the sun can be shining in my neighborhood, yet it's raining a short distance away in another neighborhood. I can't tell you how many times I've been on the phone with someone in just this situation and we're both astounded by the discrepancy. This past Saturday, it rained throughout the night where I live in Brooklyn - pouring rain at times - but apparently only drizzled in Elmont, and Belmont Park was able to conduct racing on turf courses listed as "firm" - go figure. :?
