I went to bed safe, sane and sober shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday night. I wrapped myself into layers of old blankets and comforters and lap blankets that haven't been laundered since 1991. I was burrowed.
In the dark and just minutes later something jumped into my bed and rammed its rump into my left hip with a thump. It was the momcat Mister Mittens. I petted her and covered her up with comforters. She went to sleep. Me too. In the middle of the night I woke up to do a toss and a turn and with the heat down low I flopped some extra lap blanket over the momcat. In a flash that wild animal off the street grabbed my right hand in the dark with her two fronts (claws in) and licked my hand once before collapsing back to sleep. That cat is still feral and wild and I still have no idea why I took her in off the street almost six years ago. She's a dangerous animal.
