After some false alarms on Wednesday morning March 16th Emily showed up for breakfast with soaked hindquarters and back paws. She was thin and had obviously just given birth. I checked for bleeding and was ready to make a vet run but everything seemed to be OK. She was moving well and ate well. She knows me since the day she was born and allowed me to feel her lower belly to make sure she was "empty". I went back inside.

Later in the morning I went out back and could see some squirming and sleeping kittens in a cat condo. I didn't see how many but the ones I saw were all cleaned up and alive. No Emily. Later I went back to peer in and Emily peered back. She was laid out and nursing. I was a happy man.

This morning (Thursday) Emily ate a good breakfast and at 8 a.m. after my breakfast I brought her out some warm milk and a few Cheerios. She was happy to see me and just stepped out of the condo with her two fronts as I placed her special meal in front of her. She enjoyed the milk as she needs it to make her own. The other cats know what happened and respect Emily's "space". They check up on Emily and look in on her but do not enter the kitten kondo.

In a day or so I'll get a head count and take some pictures. I'm just glad that Emily has had her motherly instincts kick in and that the weather is warming up. She goes on extra rations while she's nursing.
