Not long ago when I replaced a window air conditioner up in the man cave I called the Town of Hempstead for a "special pickup" and that government service is "free" off the onerous taxes we pay. I got a date and on the day before I laid the air conditioner out by the curb. That thing was gone for repair/scrap before the day got dark and "special pickup" had nothing to grab. I read three newspapers a day cover to cover and Tuesday is "recyclable pickup day". I sort my newspapers and plastic & glass & metal cans and have them out on Monday by the curb. Lately, the newspapers get snagged and somebody that doesn't speak English goes through everything else for treasure that I cannot understand since I redeem all the nickel water, soda and beer empties. He lays back what he doesn't want neatly and I just bite my lip with some gums since my teeth are in a glass of beer up in the man cave. This morning the busty teen bride catching Social Security wrapped up a small stand-up vacuum cleaner and I laid it out to the curb for Tuesday's garbage pickup. Only the handle was showing above the 33-gallon garbage bag that was tied up. That thing vanished quicker than a fast fart on a crowded elevator. Yup, the economy is great under loon lefty progressives that spend more than comes in on Long Island. |
