Post subject:  The Polo Grounds

As a kid from Brooklyn the ballpark at 157th Street & 8th Ave in Harlem was not allowed to be seen because the New York Giants played there and they were "Manhattan" and they were the enemy almost as bad as the Yankees.

I did get to the Polo Grounds in 1962 and 1963 when my Mets played there and I was a young teen. A walk, bus fare, two subway tokens, a buck and a quarter and a bag of sandwiches from Mom got you into a game up in the cheap seats.

Just like Ebbets Field the Polo Grounds is now high-rise handout housing in which NYC gives minorities a place to shoot each other in a compact place without firing a lot of ammo into the neighborhood where some people actually pay rent off their labor with work.
