Emily was born out back two years ago and has gotten by two winters. Social? She trots up to me for pettings and hugs and rubs. She's eating OK here from the day she was born just like her mother Nasty Mom.
Yesterday I laid out food for the ferals prior to leaving for my medical appointment with the VA Clinic in East Meadow. After that experience I ran some errands and got home near 11 a.m. As I was pulling my packages out of the car Emily came trotting out of the side of the garage with something in her jaws.
As I got to the side steps Emily walked up and dropped a dead sparrow at my feet. She sat down and stared at me. No blood, no gore - just a dead bird with a snapped neck. This was a gift to me from a feral cat, a wild animal that drops and flops on my driveway with her eyes closed while I pet her all over.
I saw one small feather on the driveway later in day when I brought out dinner for the feral cats. Food is food and feral cats eat or disappear into death.
