The taxes in Nassau are among the highest in the nation and it's been known for a long time that the assessments are fugged sideways from last Tuesday and out of Aunt Millie's drawers. The bride thought they were somewhat reasonable and affordable and that I shouldn't make waves with a grievance to the county. Similar homes on the same block are taxed at different rates.

In the spring I was diddle-dicking on line with the Nassau County website and learned that homes just like mine were paying a lot less for property taxes and I could not understand why that was happening. I was catching a veteran's tax break and was still being leaned over a fence by a lusty Nassau County.

I catch several pieces of mail each month from law firms that will appeal my taxes for me but in the spring I caught some instructions from the local lefty rag Newsday about how to do it myself. The bride was worried about the improvements made to our home and that our taxes could get hiked. She was worried about an "assessor" coming to the house with a clipboard to $%&@ us sideways as a team but a tax grievance by law cannot boost your taxes. The property tax can only be lowered or remain the same. And nobody from Nassau County will be knocking on your door.

I made a case behind the wife's back and grieved our tax assessment - that was six months ago. Yesterday, October 17th, we received a piece of mail from Nassau County that informed us the county wanted to settle the matter by lowering our property tax. We signed the "settlement" and I mailed it this morning before I diddled a losing day at Belmont Park.

Nassau's County Executive Ed Mangano is under federal indictment for being a crook while his wife is under indictment for catching $450,000.00 as a "food taster" while sleeping and farting but that's a different story.

Smart move Larry, people need to know how easy it is to get a tax reduction. I've had mine lowered three times in two different county's.
