I lost time from my Philly handicapping and even more time with installing Venetian blind brackets but the wife had Mike the contractor show up. He did our garage rebuild years ago, laid in the new bathroom and hasn't gone to prison yet - he's legit. She wants a new roof and that's not a bad idea since evidence of some leakage has appeared. We're getting a new roof next week with blue shingles to match the siding. New gutters too that do not catch leaves. And some ceiling work inside the house. Financing? The wife told Mike that she has the cash. That'll get your bill knocked down. More than 30 years ago I was sailing with making more than 45 grand a year and having a new car to go along with my wife's new car. The next year she was making more money than me at Merrill Lynch and it never bothered me. Late in her career she made more money in one year than I made over forty years of honest labor and it still doesn't bother me. Still living in the $37,250.00 house we bought more than forty years ago on my G.I. Bill with nothing? That doesn't bother me either. I don't get bothered much. |
