My granddaughter Allison will be here for a couple of weeks after she flies in from Virginia on June 7th. She's almost a teenager.

Her mother and stepfather are wonderful people.

When I babysat Allison when she was 5 I would take her to Eisenhower Park and turn her loose. Her little legs would pump to get into the playground and she would make friends and do the playground stuff.

I was hard charge Granpa then and had an eagle eye.

Kids today are nothing like my day. We went into the street to play ball and have fun and sweat and fight with girls.

Kids today are tied up with electronics and keyboard tapping while ballfields, streets and parks go empty.

The kids get fat and can't brawl or be alive while waiting for the school bus. They can't walk or run to school either while falling in love with birds or butterflys or trees to climb like I did.

On Long Island now they just all stand at the bus stop like fat slob jerkjobs to go to the $100,000-a-year school teacher that can't spell but is in for the million-dollar pension after 20 years.
