My buddy Tuxedo the black cat with the white splash on his chest is about three plus years old now. He has lived on my property since the day he was born. Coming back from ShopRite in the early a.m. he always trots up to me for pettings and sometimes I drop everything to sit on the side steps while he crawls all over me for ear rubs, shoulder rubs, belly rubs, skull rubs and gentle pettings. He and Garfield love me I think - they always rub up against my legs when I bring out food (tails up).
Tuxedo's upper fangs land over his lower lip when his mouth is closed. I got into Tux's mouth and all of his teeth are snow white and looked just fine to me. I called the vet Dr. Wallach about this condition and he told me that can happen but it's no big deal if the cat is eating well and behaving normally which he is. My teeth sit in a glass of beer next to my bed so I was concerned.
It is not recommended that anybody should try to open the mouth of an adult street tom but Tux is a neutered pet that happens to live out in the garage and sometimes in a cat condo.
