I got into my bed alone, safe, sane and sober before 11 p.m. The day had been very warm and humid so I had some AC going. As a geezer on his last legs I had to get up in the middle of the night to pee and that's when I discovered the momcat Mister Mittens laid out flat next to me with her rump jammed into my left hip.

I got out of bed on the wrong side and thought the room was chilly. I had a lap blanket neatly folded nearby and laid it over the cat. She sighed. When I got back from the bathroom I got back into bed and gave a little bit of room to the momcat. And that's when she squiggled a bit backwards while flat on her left side to get her rump into my left hip again.

We went back to sleep. The momcat is having a good life from off the street and I like her a little bit.
