I had a corn muffin going for breakfast with a bowl of Cheerios garnished with sliced banana. And that's when I heard a bird scream in terror from the roof next door. The outside cats had been fed a great breakfast but when I got outside the sweet and gentle Tuxedo had a blue jay's neck in his jaws. He dropped the bird when I got outside but it was too late for me to save the bird. It was twitching with a broken neck and I was sad. Cats kill and eat birds when they can catch one for a meal. Blue jays mate for life and Tuxedo broke up a marriage. The mate was the screaming bird up on the roof. Mom Nature can be cruel but the cat was only doing what evolution had him programmed to do. |
