The house cats and the cats outside eat in a similar fashion. By that I mean that cats that have a regular and timely food supply are "grazers" - they eat what they want but never gorge themselves. They come back now again to their food for "nibbles" and grazing if they know more food is coming. With no hunger involved cats in warm weather like today are more interested in resting and sleeping than eating.

This morning I laid out three platters of wet cat food for the cats outside plus kibble plus tuna and sardines. And fresh water. They pissed me off by not eating much and this afternoon I scraped and cleaned off the feed platters and the stainless steel feed bowl. The hot sun was drying up everything from the morning breakfast.

Into the evening while I was fiddledicking with the last race at Belmont the bride laid out a great dinner for the cats outside. And they ate just about everything to catch more plumpness to the bellies.

Go figure.

The huge house tomcat Trouble skips a lot of meals here. And he has zero for a belly without looking like he's starving. He has his "food days" but he's not a big eater.

Cats are amazing creatures.
