The bride was out to ShopRite for some grocery shopping and I was up in the man-cave pony parlor at my desk in front of my PC and an HD TV with the 5th race in a post parade.

There was a knock at the door. I raced downstairs to answer the door. A deliveryman was at the front door with a floral arrangement addressed to my wife. It was from our former daughter-in-law. I signed for it and accepted delivery. And then this happened:

Man: "Oh I'm sorry, Mr. McVey! I've brought you the wrong flowers! I'll go to my truck and get the correct delivery. Be right back."

Me: "OK but hey look, I've already signed for them and the fifth at Aqueduct is about to go off. Just drop them in front of the door and I'll get them in a few minutes."

I race back upstairs to see my $71.00 DD get home. I note the prices and start to work a strategy for Race 6. And then that's when the wife got home and saw a beautiful floral arrangement sitting on the front stoop. She wanted to know why the flowers were sitting on the front stoop (she knew I had to sign for them) and I explained to her what had happened. I grab a new beer and make my way upstairs for the sixth race.

And that's when I heard her mutter something that had the word "asshole" in it.

Yeah....freezing temps no good for flowers. I know this from experience.
