More bewildering screwups: The VA set me up with a consultation with the head cardiothoracic surgeon at NY/Winthrop to ponder whether some lung surgery was appropriate for me. I was assured that my CT scan discs (images) would be with the doctor prior to my consultation. They weren't but he had all the written reports.

On February 7th I did a CT scan with NYU/Winthrop and requested that a disc of the scan be sent to the head of oncology at the VA Hospital at Northport, Long Island. They wouldn't. If I'm to have surgery I need checkoffs and opinions from doctors at both places.

Yesterday I had what was supposed to be my last bout with immunotherapy at the VA hospital. And I was annoyed that I had to sit in a chair for an hour with a bayonet catheter in my arm with a saline drip before my cancer medicine arrived. I did my infusion.

I was informed that I had to deal with some office idiots to have my VA CT scans released to NYU/Winthrop. The line was long and I was seething. But then I thought what good would sending the scans do? The VA had no access to my Feb. 7th NYU/Winthrop CT scan. I went home before I could go fuckin' nuts and get arrested by the Fed cops at the VA.

At home I phoned NYU/Winthrop about having my CT scan sent to the VA hospital. Those idiots informed me that they would mail me some release forms to sign.

Here's the pissoff crusher - Two medical bureaucracies working on the same poor bastard with lung cancer won't share test results despite the referral and assurance from the VA that I am covered financially and my acceptance as a VA referral by NYU/Winthrop.

These medical professionals expect the old-fart cancer patient in his twilight years to jump through hoops as a go-between so that they protect their incompetent asses with "patient confidentiality" for test results that SHOULD have been shared the moment they were available.

Imagine if I was flat on my back and not breathing well. I'd be waiting for available and entitled medical help with my dick in my hand.

All bureaucracies eventually devolve into a "system of administration marked by officialism,
red tape, and proliferation".

Look at today's government - you can't open a fruit stand in New York without numerous agencies investigating the environment, the climate, the fruit and you while you are bent over.
