I once spotted what appeared to be a silver "table leg" flying over Long Island in broad daylight with a clear blue sky (it was not a blimp, it had no wings, and no aircraft was towing it). My wife thought I was nuts. Years later on a UFO show on TV I learned that more than one pilot flying east out of JFK enroute to Europe on that day reported the same strange UFO and described it as a "silver cylinder".
