We lay down three good feed dishes for the cats several times a day but most people have only two hands.
When the first two go down Mister Mittens will usually back off to let her youngsters feed, no matter how hungry she might be.
Mothers do stuff like that regardless of species. My mother took care of me and my sister like that. Mister Mittens jumps her large son Trouble, knocks him down, and grooms him. Same with Shiloh.
The cats don't get a lot of food at any one time - they are "grazers" and rarely will eat a lot at any one time. They like to eat a bit and come back later. The problem with that is that they don't want to eat the stuff they first chomped - it's getting old and stale after an hour or so. That's why cat food comes in small cans and small packets.
The more I read about cats and the more I see my three the more I am fascinated.
