I had to post this again off a racing post and because I remember fondly the story. My parents are dead and I have no idea about anybody else. Nobody on this planet is more studly or in love or more happy with women than a stupid young man in his early 20s:

I dated a Jersey girl on my first job out of the service in 1969. She lived several blocks up Bergen Avenue out of Journal Square in Jersey City. She was 28, I was 21. Her Mom was 47 and a divorcee.

No! Stop thinking dirty. She was Jewish and a gorgeous petit blond, I was an OK Irish Catholic kid. I brought her home to my parents.

The old man snagged me aside and told me, "No good, Larry, she's too smart for you."

Later on she ran off with Alan Greenberg who was from up the Grand Concourse in the Bronx.

In high school my mother was draped in rosary beads when I wanted to go to a dance with Ruby Su, a Chinese girl. With the Jewish girl she cranked up her Masses from three a week to six or seven.

Growing up Irish Catholic from good people born in 1914 and 1918 was a pisser.
