As a kid there was a neighborhood cop (NYPD) his name was Officer Fenimore...he must have had 25 years on the job..A tough guy bent on ruining our evening card games in the local park..Each nite like clock work he would roll in..we would run he would scoop the money and leave..Never a man more despised than he in the eyes of kids..His partner was a guy nicknamed Hamburger..equally nasty. Months became years and we grew tired of the harassment..Steps were taken to secure the money ( we used a hat) easy to scoop..He became more beligerent and frustrated..One nite sick and tired a friend said he was not going to run (his dad was a cop) when the patrol car rolled in we were gone in a flash..My buddy stood there..As he was told to raise his hands Fenimore let lose with a shot to the midsection and a baton smack across the back of his legs..As he went to the floor the officer thanked him for the "show of respect" and for not running like his buddies..He than cuffed him threw his in the back seat and backed into a park bench wrecking his police car...Furious he drove directly to the station and called my buddy's dad..Explained the "job" and the next time I saw my buddy summer was over and he was happy to be "allowed" back out. His father had punished him for two months..No call from the President could save him..no "profiling accusations" no white on white crime..Just an old fashioned smack down no questions asked..

we did learn our lesson card games and drinking went indoors or maybe that was more weather related..
