I was surprised to hear that Reverend Ike was only 74. As a teenager many years ago I can remember listening to him for laughs on a small AM radio station from Harlem. God would be good to you and riches would come your way (that was the "pie in the sky") but first you had to fill envelopes with money and send them to Ike (God does not help those who do not take care of God's messengers).

Ike had more poontang*, cars, and cash than I could ever dream of. Never a word of hate or nastiness out of him that I can recall. Even Wikipedia credits Ike with having "his own personal style of 'preaching prosperity'". This guy was a great preacher to many, a thieving scam artist to others but he was a character I'm glad I didn't miss.

* Yes, 'poontang' was a popular Marine Corps expression and it means excatly what you think it does. And yes, only girls are born with it.

The guy was very good at (fleecing? people) what he did. I still use his holy wata on the racing form.
