Trouble is 17 pounds and he doesn't eat much. He has zero belly but he's a cat with 244 bones (lots more than you have) and a cat can scrunch up for sleep and be compressed.

This is an amazing photo. The cat is sleeping soundly but he has left his left eye partially open and his right ear is perked. A second eyelid is covering the cat's eye to keep it moist. A small part of the cat's brain is still awake to hear noises and see things - the cat's memory allows it to filter out non-threatening noises and visions while it sleeps.

Oh yeah.. I see his eye ! Always alert.
