Almost. The guy with the custom-fit glass doors for the shower is coming later this week but I'm in trouble. The porcelain floor, the granite sink and the push-button crapper are here and done.

In 1954 my mother took my sister and me to see War of the Worlds starring Gene Barry at the Calderone in Hempstead. The movie had me jumping with fear (it was in color!). The Martians had things like these shower parts spraying humans with green death rays.

I grew up getting sprayed from a nozzle. I spent years in gang showers with athletes and Marines. I was aboard ship catching a 60-second fresh water shower in the middle of the Pacific compliments of our Navy.

But I never wanted to be under the Martian green-ray Death Weapons that I saw in the movies back in 1954.

The bride bought her "dream bathroom" and I'm in with it but I'll be damned if I will just be able to get under some hot spray again to get clean without reading 60 pages of instructions.

I'm thinking a young infantryman can get into action faster out of an ambush than an old fart can grab a shower or even get wet with this stuff.

I go to the library every two weeks or so and catch some great reading. While I walk through the neighborhood with my bag of books I see people walking while gabbing on a phone or diddledicking a small keyboard and walking into trees. Many cars go by with the driver yelling into a phone.

With years of age, I'm under you Hoppy by a bit but this country put out better people years ago. People had more sense and a better grip on how to live years ago.

I just wanted a nozzle with little holes that lets hot water fly out. I have no clue how to use 40 pounds of firefighting equipment just to take a simple freakin' shower!

I'm telling you - those are Martian death rays in the new crapper.
