That's her at the bottom while her three brothers are catching great nipples and she gets shut out as "tail-end Charlie".
With every kitten up for adoption two of the three males get adopted to good homes. The bride and I decide that we are keeping the momcat Mister Mittens and the huge mummy male kitten Trouble. The runt girl is going to the county shelter and probably be put down after a week or two. I couldn't do that so I phoned the North Shore Animal League. They do not kill any animal but said they would take the mostly white small female kitten but that I'd have to wait a bit. It's going to cost me a yard or two when I drop her off but I won't have Shiloh young and dead. She fought her bigger brothers for a nipple and kept fighting them as a tiny kitten on her feet with play. That little girl wanted to live.
Some weeks later when the North Shore Animal League called back for the girl kitten Shiloh (aka Sweet Babycakes) she had a home for life at our house. We just loved her too much. Dr. Wallach told us that he could spay a little girl that didn't weigh 6 pounds and when Shiloh got carted away she was a frightened little girl. Home after spaying and being in the animal hospital overnight she went nuts with joy to see her brother and mother again. She was all jumpy and squealing and happy.
Yeah, the runt has filled out a bit and she's still a small cat but she's a lovely gentle house cat with two tons of heart when it comes to play or brawls with her tomcat brother. She was naked and scoping the neighborhood today when I snapped this picture up in the man cave:
