How could they disappear? At least Emily and Ginger should show some time. What happened to them

Emily and Ginger show up every day for meals and Ginger now allows a gentle touch now and again as she has become a tad less feral. Emily loves to be petted and rubbed.
I have no idea where the kittens are since the girls moved them. I haven't seen a trace of them.
