The tiny runt female kitten Shiloh (Sweet Babycakes) who had no shot to live out of July, 2010 without an old Marine intervening jumped into my bed this evening.
Her mother Mister Mittens has no milk for the runt kitten anymore and after almost seven years at my house the runt kitten has grown a bit. Tonight she laid her head into her mother's chest and her mother began grooming her daughter's head (a cat's tongue has trouble catching its head for grooming).
I caught a good photo here - the momcat is slapping her runt kitten's right ear with tongue licks going on seven years after giving birth to her in a pile of dirt next to my front stoop. I don't dare compare cat mothers with human mothers but I do wonder now and again.
