There are no tricks. Zero - as in it "ain't happening". The cats you took in have a territory (every square foot of your home) and will share it with you if you keep the heat up during winter and lay out lots of comforters for warm beds. The cats will also tolerate their humans well if great good food is provided upon demand and the litter boxes are cleaned well and freshened up several times daily. Brushings and cat treats can also help to keep these wild animals from attacking you with their fangs and claws.
