It's tough buying good meat and poultry birds for two people or Heaven forbid, one person. Several days ago the teen bride of only 44 years did up a magnificent medium-rare roast beef and we had a fantastic dinner and great leftovers. I whipped up a hot open roast beef sandwich smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes and peas on the side. The cold roast beef sandwiches were terrific.

OK, it's Wednesday and the Easter ham is in the fridge and a huge 50-buck prime rib gizmo on sale for $26 is in the freezer.

After I got my prong kicked stiff with the races at Aqueduct I went downstairs to prepare a dinner for the feral cats but the kitchen was already occupied. The wife had a razor-sharp filleting knife in her hand but she never raised it to me. She was dicing up a couple of pounds of medium rare roast beef for the feral cats outside to go along with the platters of wet food she had laid out.

It's plain to see in this photo that the feral cats at the stainless steel "Great Dane" feed bowl do not like medium-rare roast beef. Foreground left? Bosco got off the roast beef and thought I was coming out with tuna and sardines for him.

What an adorable cat. did YOU give Bosco his favorites?

Maybe too young for beef?
