Wind and rain and snow and ice and sun and some years can take a toll upon a cedar deck. Early on I took care of the deck with proper coverings and maintenance.
Going into 2017 the deck was a horror and I knew that it was fugged sideways three ways from Sunday.
The wife thought it would be a good idea for me to lay down lots of poisonous chemicals to strip the deck down to its original surface. I knew she was nuts but I gave it a shot - it didn't work. Some of the cedar planks had caught rot and I replaced parts of that. The bride told me that sanding the deck might get it ready for some great stain.
Me? I like the girl a little bit but I bought some stuff that could bury a rough deck that I could have covered in early May with a whole lot of less expense.
