Sad Face is an enormous street tom and no doubt the sire and grand-sire of just about every cat that walks around my neighborhood.
He doesn't live here but he likes to eat here and he got trapped here to be neutered and vaccinated and loaded up with antibiotics from street fight injuries.
He was returned to my house on Thursday and when let out of his cage he bolted on a gallop to get away from humans, cages, surgeries and anything to do with being "not free".
Friday evening after the races at Belmont Park? Sad Face showed up for a meal and ate well. His gonads are gone to a landfill but as he was walking down the driveway to leave I called out to him. He stopped and I got to him. I gave him some head rubs, neck rubs, ear rubs and back rubs. I've been feeding and have been kind to this wild animal for a long time.
He flopped down for a photo - the cat knows that I could never be a threat to him:
