One of the kitchen lights was going dull and flickering a bit on Wednesday, December 6th. It didn't bother me since the other one is a monster LED ceiling light I had installed more than a year ago but it bothered my 63-year-old teen bride. I understood the workings of the old "twin bulb" circular fluorescent fixture and I knew where to go to catch replacements and make it work well.
I took the old dead bugs out of the fixture and then scrubbed and cleaned it well. I replaced the fluorescent circular tubes and it was like a blind man seeing his first sunrise. The wife was thrilled.
And that's how useful geezers don't get thrown out or divorced after a marital spat. Taking out the garbage and working well with power tools for repairs is also a big help. Loving the girl a little bit is also helpful.
