After I blew the getaway race at Gulfstream I laid out some platters of wet cat food and some cans of tuna and sardines for the cats out back. From under the wife's car came the "intact with two gonads" tomcat White Leg. He was very hungry and chased some cats off the "Great Dane" feed bowl that was all loaded up with fish and warm water. I went inside to grab my camera.
When I got back outside Bristol and her mother Ginger were hissing and snarling with very low wiggly tails and they made White Leg back off the "premium" tuna and sardines. They were shoulder to shoulder and angry and moving toward the tom down low and slow. He backed off. I'm just sorry I didn't catch the two female cats in a photo.
The hungry White Leg got into a platter of great Friskies as the regulars got into the tuna and sardines but he was looking at the two spayed girls that ran him off the real good stuff.
I'm OK with White Leg grabbing a meal here when he shows up but he wasn't around last spring when I trapped and neutered a lot of feral cats. I have a neutered female momcat in the house (Mister Mittens) and I can assure you that female cats spayed or fertile can carry a lot of attitude, pissoff, courage and heart when somebody gets into their territory that doesn't belong.
