Both fellows are neutered and cannot compete for a female but they are both males with a territory in mind. Trouble went out the side door when I was serving the Wednesday dinner. Garfield got off the tuna and sardines and sat down by the side steps in this snap and is clearly raising his tail to send a message of peace. Moments later Trouble jumped down and with both cats standing nose to nose they "snoogled" heads cheek to cheek with both tails straight up. Trouble sees the cats out back every day and the cats out back know Trouble's scent and see him by a window too. Cats are amazing animals when they're not trying to kill each other to pass on some DNA but Mother Nature has a program set for the "fittest" that's rough to bypass unless some cats get into TNR.

You said Trouble jumped down to the gound and "embraced" Garfield...who looks to be a substantially sized cat too!
