I hoisted the National Ensign with great respect at 0800 hours this morning and I would hope that my neighbors and friends are all doing the same this weekend. Monday we honor our fellow countrymen who gave everything for their nation and are still standing watch unto eternity.

If you have a flag pole for Monday:

The colors get run to half staff from 0800 hours until noon to honor our dead veterans. You run the flag to full staff as a salute to your nation and then gently lower it to half mast in salute for your fallen fellow Americans past and present.

At noon you run the National Ensign up to full staff just like the dead would like to see it wave.

The colors were brought down and retired with great respect by two veterans this evening at sunset - the Pole boys. Tough nuggets that my old man and my wife's father weren't around to flash a salute and pay respects but a lot of people have to be gone to make room for the younger people. I think Mom Nature made that rule some millenium ago.
