The momcat Mister Mittens is two years old. She got pregnant as a young girl on the street as a kitten herself and gave birth to four kittens. Jeez, she was a wonderful mother. She was ready to go to the death with claws and teeth next to my front stoop last summer but her position was all open to the street after my wife laid her down outside in late labor.
It was 104 degrees outside and when I got the cats into the garage next day and it had to be 115+ degrees in there. I wanted to go down in history as a simple common Irish drunk, a decent horse player and a good Marine that could throw hands in a saloon but not as a "cat cooker" on my paper work with Saint Peter. The cats came inside to air conditioning. Two kittens were adopted. Two were kept here.
Anyway, the momcat Mister Mittens used to try to jet by an open door to get back to the street even after Dr. Wallach removed her ovaries and uterus at great expense but now that she has spent half of her life at the age of two as a house cat she seems to like being a house cat with no worms in her gut, no fleas upon her fur, and no tomcats treating her badly in the street for sex.
She still has glaring eyes and is quick with claws as a warning if she doesn't want to be petted (especially lower than her front shoulders) but she's a good girl. And yet, unlike her daughter Shiloh and her son Trouble (house cats from day #1), you just know there is something feral about her.
