I went downstairs not long ago to snag a beer and found the tomcat Trouble sitting on the kitchen table. The bride informed me that he had seen a tiny bug or spider up near the ceiling and that he had been sitting there for more than half an hour just trying to figure out how to go get it with tooth and claw. Jeez, the cats are nuttier than I am.

House cats are natural predators...that part of their genetics is essentially unchanged from several thousand years. Cats stalk prey forever...unmoving...waiting to pounce. Anything in their territory is "fair game". With 3 cars on patrol, I bet there are few bugs, insects, mice around your house.

At my house we figure the true hunter is Sweet Babycakes. That little girl once grabbed a centipede and rolled with it while giving it the "death bite". She knew she couldn't eat the bug and just laid it down on the kitchen floor while clawing at it a bit for the funeral to make sure it was dead.
