24/14/6/1679 WT...??? Just got back from my kids game, got some cold brews to watch the replay and I cant believe it! Kinda glad the 1 horse lost in the last, because I really liked this horse. Oh well, thats why they call it gambling!

Every time I play a race I think about that 60/1 shot clear by ten lengths that jumped the fence on the Belmont lawn.
The old man next to me at the bar at Vito The Sandwich King near the Hicksville OTB who keyed the horse (Walter Zirk) said to me, "I never got &*%$ed like this when my wife was alive."
Walter and I went to the same high school (Hempstead) 33 years apart. He was class of '32 and I was class of '65. Walter was 6-foot 8 inches and probably 280 as an old man. When he shook your hand his right hand went up your forearm.
Old horseplayers and old farts are fading out now. Old veterans as well.
Tweets and twits and texting are OK now. The country is going down while everybody stops to text or twit or tweek.
