Yes, just like every other home nearby the ceiling is at 8 feet. And yes my wife collects Irish Belleek china and Waterford crystal - and yes the display cabinet is up 7 feet in the living room.
And no, nobody ever thought a cat here could launch itself to get to the top.
And then there is the housecat tomcat Trouble at his full adult size after 14 months of life. He spent some time scoping the top of the cabinet and then he figured he could trot to a cat perch and then vault himself to the top of the cabinet off his back legs with his claws out front to grab a hold up top and scramble up. He succeeded. And then he grabbed some confidence and figured he could just sit on his perch and launch himself without a running start. He succeeded.
Out on the street I'm thinking Trouble could have made his way as a tomcat with his size and strength and coloring had he survived kittenhood but as a neutered tomcat he's a gentle fellow and a joy to be near as a house cat. But Jeez, he's a powerful animal.
